Daytona Night 2: Carr Finishes 9th overall

AMA Grand National Flat Track Championship - Night 2: Carr Finishes 9th overall

Daytona Beach, FL - KTM's Chris Carr finished 9th overall at the 20th annual AMA Grand National Flat Track Championship double-header at Daytona Municipal Stadium.

After a strong 4th place finish on Night 1, Carr struggled in his qualifiers the second night. Carr first appeared in heat #5 where he powered around the first turn and led the pack into the second corner. Unfortunately he made a slight mistake and was passed for the lead by Nick Cummings. He remained in second until the half way mark where a hard charging Ken Coolbeth was able to sneak by him and the leader.

Carr remained close to the now second place bike of Nick Cummings and finished half a bike length behind him at the checkers. Unfortunately his third place finish was not strong enough to place him in the main and he went back to prepare for his semi.

Carr knew he had to win his semi as only the winner is eligible to transfer to the main from the semi. He started out well lined up on the inside spot on the front line. He again replayed his heat race start where he powered the bike around the first turn and moved into second position.

He sat right behind the #88 bike of John Raun Wood and was preparing to make a pass for the lead. Carr went inside and outside and desperately tried to get around Wood. At the end of the race, Carr came up 0.123 seconds short and finished second behind Wood narrowly missing a transfer spot to the main event.

Despite not making the main event on Night 2, Carr's 4th place finish on Night 1 was good enough to place him 9th overall for the two night double-header.
