Saturday night at the Indy Mile saw action packed racing on a historic night with the King Kenny Roberts. Roberts took a few 'hot laps' on the TZ 750 that he won the Indy mile on in 1975.
The night started off with Steven Vanderkuur topping the Pro Singles qualifying by putting his new ride the "D and D Exhaust Powered- DFW Honda" on the pole for the nights events.
Steven was almost a second faster than second place in qualifying. With a second place finish in his heat Steven was on the front row for the main event.
A bad start and bar banging in the first corner saw the 17 year old young gun come around the first lap in 12th place. With only 12 laps to work with he powered his Honda to the front.
When time ran out Steven had reached fourth place. A very solid ride for his first outing on his new ride for Sammy Sweet / Chico Racing.
The Springfield short track and the Springfield Mile on Labor Day Weekend are next. We look forward to sharing a winning race report with you then.
